PHIL Award Winner
April 2007
Christine Riedy, RRT, received the first PHIL Award on April 19, 2007. Chris is the
epitome of an exceptional Respiratory Therapist and is deserving of much
recognition. She has been with St. Joseph Mercy Health System for 19 years and is
dedicated to her profession, patients and St. Joseph Mercy Health System. During
high-pressure emergent situations, Chris reacts with great professionalism and is a
calming presence to those around her.
Chris loves what she does and her care and concern extends beyond her patients. In
her tenure with SJMHS, she has enjoyed being a part of the medical and
technological advances that have helped those with acute and chronic lung
diseases live longer with an improved quality of life.
Chris is an advocate for organ donation and is active member on the St. Joseph
Mercy Health System Trauma and Gift of Life Committees. In addition, every year
during Season of Giving at SJMHS, Chris organizes the Respiratory Therapy
department’s Adopt-a-Family, and champions the United Way efforts for the
department.
Chris was both honored and surprised to receive the PHIL Award, saying, “Everyone
works as a team to do the best thing for the patient. This was possible because of
the great teams I work with.”
